City Clerk

At the first regular meeting of the Board held after each general election of City Officers, it shall be the duty of the Board of Aldermen to elect a Clerk to be known as a City Clerk who shall be suitable and competent to perform the duties of such office.  The City Clerk shall keep a journal of the proceedings of the Board and perform such other duties as may be required of him/her by virtue of the laws and ordinances governing the City.  Duties of the the City Clerk shall include, but not be limited to, keeping and maintaining all City records of whatsoever nature, the attendance at regular and special meetings of the Board of Aldermen as well as meetings of committees of said City as said Clerk may be called upon to attend, and to handle all City correspondence, and the carrying out of such directions as may be from time to time prescribed by the Board of Aldermen.
